  • 20 HP throttle twist removal

The motor is a 1990. As near as I can tell I need to replace part # 12 in the pic below. It looks like there are two little catches that hold the twist grip (part #16) on that appear to be broken off of part number 12. If I pull out towards me with the twist grip is slides off, but not completly. So my question is, does part # 12 need to be replaced? If so, how do I remove the grip so I can get to it?

Push in the two spring loaded retaining pins of #18.

I got it figured out. Nothing to do with #18. I just hadn't unscrewed the idle stop switch all the way. The grip came right off and I need part #12 to fix the issue.

#18 is the inner grip retainer.... I had a$$umed that you had the foresight to get the stop switch out of the way.

Yeah I had tried but it wouldn't unscrew all the way and I was afraid I was going to break it. I figured there was something else I needed to do which led me to my post. I finally just wrenched it off. Didn't break and goes on and off easily now. Thanks for your reply.
