35hp ????

My dad recently purchased a used 35hp evinrude (model: E35ELCTS) for his 28ft. houseboat. We were having trouble with power in reverse so I went looking for a new prop. The problem is all the props I am finding for a 35hp evinrude are thru hub exhaust. The motor my dad has is thru cavitation plate exhaust. I can't find any references to a 35hp with thru cavitation plate exhaust. My question is, did evinrude make a 35hp motor with thru cavitation plate exhaust or has this motor been modified with a 25hp bottom half?

The lower unit had to have been changed or altered.

That's what I suspected. I just got off the phone with the marine dealer that sold the motor to Dad and he claims that Johnson and Evinrude did that kind of stuff a lot in the early 80s. He said he has seen this before on motors from that time period. He said it wouldn't be possible to bolt a 25hp lower unit to a 35hp motor.
