Hi guys
I am new to this site. I have a 1986 200 hp evinrude looper engine. When I purchased the boat and motor the oil injection has been byp***ed (oil is mixed in the gas). The engine has received new piston rings and a hone job.
When I first took it out, the motor would start and idle fine. It would start to accelerate fine until around 2000-2500 RPM. The engine would loose power and go dead. This would happen if I did not let off of the hot foot. It would start back up just fine though.
After the first run I change all the coil packs and spark plugs.
I also noticed a hose that connects behind one of the cylinders was off, so I reconnected the hose back onto the nipple.
For the next trial it ran strong and fast minus the second to last "lap", in which it bogged down again around 2500 rpm or so. I restarted and made another fast lap with no problems.
I took it out yesterday and it again bogged down around 2000-2500 rpm. It would just go dead if I did not release the gas. It would start and idles fine.
Here is the wierd thing; I had two good runs between the engine not running right.
Do you guys know what would cuase this?
Thanks in advance for the help
