  • Over heating and Water over flowing in middle leg

    Please help !!
I have recently rebuilt my 90hp evinrude v4 (1986) model.
And now the leg is over flowing with water out the overflow holes at front of leg and not coming out exhaust which in turn is making engine over heat.http://www.evinrudeoutboardforum.com...s/confused.gif
I have removed the power head twice and all looks good around the gasket.
I have replaced thermostats and made sure two little holes on valve body are clear to allow thermostats to open,
I have check and both thermostats are opening.
I have checked and made sure when putting bottom leg on the exhaust gasket is locating.
Could some one please shed some more ideas for me to check http://www.evinrudeoutboardforum.com...s/confused.gif
    Thanks Georgehttp://www.evinrudeoutboardforum.com/images/smilies/redface.gif

      thermos

I have just removed thrermo and put hose ontop inlets for both heads and water will fill middle leg over flow first,(is this right) then start coming out teltale and other side head(did both sides and water flow was pretty good)
Has anyone had this problem before???
      Thanks George

        HI
Just ran motor without thermos housing on and great flow from heads.
So why would all the water coming out of engine be filling up middle leg???
Could we be doing some thing wrong when putting thermo housing back on??
        thanks George

***, i believe your problem is in the mid-section, not the powerhead. Good luck

Yeah that what we are thinking.
we have both power head and gearbox off again(thrid time) but cant see how the exhaust and water join.
Do you know much about mid section??
            thx George

Check that the water tube is sealing properly. Bad seal will fill the midsection and not provide sufficiant flow to the powerhead.
