EVINRUDE 115 Shuts down to idle speed

Recently purchased a 2000 Bennington 25ft. pontoon with a 2000 Evinrude 115 Ficht. When I run wide-open the motor will shut down to idle speed only. Check engine light goes on and engine shuts down to idle speed.

Wide-open I am hitting about 6000 RPM's....if I pull back the throttle just 100 rpm's, it will run perfectly.

In fact it runs perfectly at any speed except wide-open.

Could I have the wrong prop?

Try a larger pitch prop, engine may be hitting the rev limiter.
