  • Trolling Motor Speed Issue

    ETH2T 12 volt - have no power on 1st, 2nd,and 3rd settings - motor only
works in 4th position in either forwards or reverse direction and pulse does
not work either. Replaced rotary switch PN 0396487 - no change - what part
    do you think I need?

Don't know what to tell you, I looked at the parts diagram for the motor and it really doesn't tell you much. Did you try running it with the arm open and operate the switch by it's self? If the switch shows power leaving in each of the positions then it has to be the wiring to the motor.

The battery shows 12.8 volts supplying the motor. The Full speed setting has 12 volts going through the switch to the motor. On the other speeds I seem to only get 3.8 volts through the switch.

The motor itself seems to be slightly siezing. I am thinking that the motor is binding enough that the reduce voltage is not enough to spin the motor. I will check for power right at the motor connection with the motor connected and not connected.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping I missed something stupid.

If you can find an amp meter that will handle the full rate of the motor it will tell alot as to whether the motor is the problem. Seems like you would hear it hum if it were trying to turn.
