Decided to change the plugs this spring on my 1983 Evinrude E35rcts because last year it was acting weird. Put in NGK plugs, gapped at .030, and after priming the bulb and choking, she fired in 5 pulls. So far so good. Problems
Are as follows, throttle is getting hard to twist, which is minor, but here's the biggie: planed out at full throttle, 20 mins into the ride, she almost died. I quickly throttled down and caught it, then feathered her back to full, but it reoccurs periodically. Now, in all honesty, I noticed my hose connection to the tank isn't GREAT, so that COULD be it, any other ideas? Also. On the left side
Of the motor, there is a screw on a black piece labled "Filter". Is this a
Fuel filter cuz i can't find a fuel filter listed on parts lists. SO...hard to twist tiller, sudden near-kill, and "Filter". Disabled Vet needs advice!! Oh. Serial number is e0238102 in case it's needed.

I don't know your motor, but if you have fuel lines going in and out of the spot that says filter then I would be looking at it. If your lines are looking bad then you might be sucking air in, or a vent that is partly plugged. Good luck
