  • Too much grease?

Hey all. I just got my first boat with O/B, a 1988 SPL. I was just adding grease to the zerks (hadn't been done in several years) and a I got a little eager with the grease gun at the bottom of the shaft behind the mounting bracket on the right side. About a tablespoon came out of the top of the shaft. Did I blow a seal, or is this just a natural consequence of adding too much grease?

    Thanks from a new guy,

    Jason

Good luck with the new boat. On most seals they are built to allow a little grease out to prevent damage from pressure and yet keep foreign material from getting in, I don't think that you hurt anything if the seal is in good shape.

    Happy boating.
