i have a 1985 70hp evinrude outboard. while winterizing the motor this past winter i had the hood off and noticed fuel shooting out of the red flipper on the fuel solenoid while cranking the motor. i ordered a gasket for the top plate of the solenoid and two o-rings for the flipper is this the correct fix? i also noticed i can rock the motor fore and aft about 1 inch or so at the top. the bottom mounts seem to be ok. i am wondering what the fix is and can a backyard mechanic do the job.
