  • carburetor slow speed linkage

Hello, this is my first post so please bare with me. My problem is a 1970 60hp Evinrude model no.60073d, the Slow Speed control knob is missing all the linkage to the carburetors.
I purchase this boat and motor use,as is. I found all the linkage(on-line) but when I went to install them I notice there is no Needle Valves(Slow Speed Part no. 313360)on any of the carb's.
I have a manual and it show them on all three carb's. The carb's on this outboard has a recessed sloted screw right where the Needle Valve should be.The diagram show's the linkage connectting to the Needle Valve.
I would like to know if these are the right carb's for this model(60073D)
If so then why is the Slow Speed knob there?

sounds like someone has put later model carbs on it. the later model carbs have fixed jets. it may run ok, or may need rejetting to run corectly. believe me, the fixed jets are a lot better because the adjustable ones constantly needed adjusting. however, the old style was ok when the weather changed. cause you could richen or lean with the weather.

Is there anyway to tell what year the carb's are without taking them off. just in case I have to rebuild them. I would like to have rebuild kit or replacement in hand before removing them.
