E-tec Gauge

Hi again all ! I have a problem with my tacho gauge the one that has 4 red lights that go through the emm checks after the audible warning
My issue is this gauge does not work at all neither does the audible sound once ignition is turned on. Even though my engine runs perfectly starts first turn every time the lights on the emm go off as they should do.
Could one or more of you she’d some light on this before I purchase a new gauge :😒

I retired in 1991, before the e-tec engine came upon the scene, and frankly I don't know what the difference is between a "e-tec' and a regular OMC engine that's been manufactured for years.

However... the tachometer on "all" of the engines is controlled by the engine's charging system. Have you had, or are you having any problem keeping your battery charged?

Hi jo no there is no problem with maintaining a charge the battery is 100%

All the warning lights in gauge should light up when turn key on, if they do not light up then remove the connector from back of gauge and test for 12 volts between purple and black wires in connector with ignition key turned on. If have 12 volts the gauge is bad, if don't have 12 volts the check wiring between gauge and key switch.
