So I have an 87 2 stroke 40 on my flats boat and I'm looking to repower.
I'm curious if anyone here has repowered from an older 2 stroke to a new one of the same hp. If so, were the improvements marginal or considerable?
I'm happy with my older 2 stroke but I would like better range and better hole shot but I'm just not sure the gains would be worth the 5500 to replace the older motor, or if it's worth the additional 80+ pounds of weight.
Any thought or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I can't find and video or thread anywhere compareing an older 2 stroke to a new of of the same hp.
