  • Evinrude 50 HP stuck in Limp Mode

I have a 2000 Evinrude 50 HP 4 stroke model E50PL4SS that was showing a HOT alarm. I diagnosed the problem and found that the manifold Heat Sender (sensor) was corroded and cracked. After replacement the alarm went away but the motor still goes to limp mode at about 2800 RPM. The entire cooling system has been rebuilt (water pump, thermostat, piston and manifold heat sender). The Tell Tale is strong and no signs of overheating.
No other alarms have been seen or are present, could the EMM be stuck on the original fault and require a 'clear' of the fault? Can this be done without the computer diag kit?
