  • Tilt trim switch needed

I'm in need of a tilt trim switch on a 1991 set of surface mount controls ( the black ones with a single lever and the red tilt switch in side of the knob on top of the single lever) , I believe the part # is 0176406 and it is discontinued, does anyone have a work around for this besides buying a $189.00 new old stock switch on Ebay?

I don't see any available any where. You can install a foot operated trim switch or mount a toggle switch in the dash.

Fix for obsolete trim tilt switch on Evinrude controls

I did a work around and fixed my tilt trim switch by mounting a new switch that was designed to transom mount
(Seachoice Transom Trim Control 28131, from Amazon), I cut the wires going into the handle and spliced the switches 18" pigtail in place of the switch in the handle! I was able to use Velcro to mount the switch atop the controls, and secured the pigtail down & under the control box using Gorilla Duck Tape. In the future I may source an Evinrude dash mount switch and mount it in space available next to the tilt-trim gauge on the dash and wire it into the same cable that I cut from the handle of the controls!
