9.9/15 hp 4 stroke fuel pump

Has anyone found a solution for a replacement fuel pump on these motors other than the rebuilt kit you can still buy. I have read several posts about the problem but no one has followed up with a fix or replacement pump. People will post to try this or that but has anyone been successful with a workable solution.
