  • Busted Tilt & Trim on 1983, 90 HP Evinrude

Recently purchased a 1983, 90 HP Evinrude and the electric tilt/trim motor is bad, (the hydrolics may also have a problem) also I can't manually raise the engine. The shiney post that appear to be housed in the hydrolic cylinder are drawn inside but the motor will not release so that I can rais it to remove the electric motor. What can I do to be able to rais the motor manually. Any ideas, THANKs.

if you are standing behind the engine, there is about a 1/2 inch hole in the right side transom bracket with a flat head screw in there. you can loosen it about a turn or two and you should be able to raise the engine with goood ol elbow grease. pull up on engine.
