I have a 1998 115 hp evinrude with crossover carbs. I have recently heard that I should have been using OMC engine tuner to remove carbon from my engine every 50 hours of use. I have never used this and would like to know if it can be used now. I have averaged about 2-3 hrs of use for about 6 times a year since 1998. I'm sure it has some build up by now. Can I safely use this product to clean the engine even though I have not used it since I first got the boat? Any danger of damaging the engine from use of said product? Will I need more than one 13 ounce can and is there any need to do this more than once per 50 hrs?

That product is specifically for use in running through your engine and could not do any damage even if the engine had zero hours on it.
When in doubt, pertaining to carbon.... you can purchase a cheap flexible inspection light at any auto parts store that one can insert through a spark plug hole to view the piston tops, cylinder walls, etc.
