1981 9.9 HP stored for 6 years won't start

A 1981 Evenrude 9.9 HP outboard model E10RCID has been stored for 6 years. It was running well before being stored. The main jet in the carburetor was completely clogged. I cleaned the carb up thoroughly. Now it is getting gas, but there is no spark. Is there anything I can check without pulling the flywheel?

Remove the spark plugs when testing for spark. The strong blue spark should jump a 7/16" gap.

You could disconnect the black/yellow wire (kill circuit) from the powerpack. If you now have spark, either the stop button or ignition switch is shorted out (whichever you might have).

If still no spark, suspect the powerpack BUT check the components under the flywheel first.
