This hose is crazy expensive! One end is a straight #6 female JIC and the other end is some kind of odd power steering looking fitting. It is 90 degree. Does Evinrude or anybody else make a hose with a similar oddball fitting I could cut off and modify? $318 for a 7 1/4 inch hose is just stupid

No, that's not stupid... that's highway robbery! I checked my book to confirm that price... whew!!
I checked my remaining stock and if I had one I was going to tell you to make me an offer (I'm not greedy). Unfortunately that's a item not in my remaining (retired) stock. However, there's got to be a zillion of those things laying around in the outboard repair shops..... $20 or $25 would still be a high price for such a small item but fair considering the alternative.
