  • Battery cable for new ETEC

    Hi,
I just found this forum, while searching for my question. Hope to learn a lot here!

1st of many questions: I'm ready to order battery cables for a new 2015 200HO G1 and need to know what type of connection is on the engine. Are they threaded posts, like on the battery? 5/16", 3/8", etc.?

    Thanks in Advance....

I retired in 1991 and obviously have no knowledge of your 2015 model but I don't want you to think I"m ignoring you.

However... you will need to get at your engine's power-head eventually to install the new cables. Remove the engine's hood to see what the ends of those cables look like.

      Thanks for responding!
Unfortunately, it is currently tucked away in a warehouse about 50 miles from me

I may drop by a local dealer to take a peek.

      Good Day!!!

That would be the way to go. The dealers parts manuals would also show the engine exploded view revealing exactly what those cables look like along with their part numbers.

I see that the engine comes with a 10' Battery cable/solenoid harness. Been searching around and can't tell if they offer longer ones. Anyone have links or part numbers for longer ones? I need 15'-20' length.

Having been in the Evinrude/Johnson line of work since 1960/1991, I don't recall either OMC or Bombardier offering longer voltage cables. If Bombardier does, hopefully some other technician will jump in here with lengths and some part numbers.

I have always simply went to a reliable auto parts store and bought whatever gauge length negative (Black) and positive (Red) cable I need. Whatever ends are needed, once known, can be purchased also.

The ends may be attached with a tool, also available at any auto parts store, whereas the ends are attached simply by belting the top of the tool hard with a good size hammer (No Soldering Required).
