Draining water from my outboard motor

Is it necessary to drain water or is there a way to drain water from my 1992 40 hp evinrude outboard? I am new at owning a boat and motor, so I know nothing about preventative maintence. Thanks.

Tilted up it may trap some water, in down position it should drain out.

It might be wise to get a manual?
