1988 Evinrude 70hp VRO

Hi All

I recently bought a boat with a 1988 Evinrude 70hp VRO - Model: E70TLCCA

The previous owner had change gauges, but left all the old wiring in place. I have now stripped out all the gauges and and redundant wiring.

My question is that the old gauges never had a ignition + going to them and didn't work, I think the ignition + is a purple wire, but where is it? I can't see it!

Do I need to take my remote control off and wire in a new purple wire?

There should be a harness connected to remote control box(if side mount box it plugs into front of box) with gauge wiring. The purple wire is key on power.

I found the harness attached to the tacho and not plugged in! The tacho is broken so I've cut the cables to the tacho so I can use the harness for the rest of my instruments.
