I recently acquired a 1963 10hp that had been sitting for about 20 years. I installed a new impeller, cleaned the carb and installed a kit and float. I was ready to clean and set the points when I found both coils were cracked. I replace both coils, cleaned and set the points and put it all back together. When finally got it running I discovered it won't idle. It runs at high speed pretty smooth but a I back the throttle down it starts to buck then dies. Adding fuel does not change the problem. The way it bucks I an convinced it is ignition. I have points ordered but they won't be here for a couple days. Does anybody have any thoughts?

Points, timing, and low speed mixture screw are the basics for those older motors to idle properly.
If you didn't soak the carb(s) well, and blow through the air & fuel pas-sages thoroughly with compressed air, you may still have problems with carb(s).
Also, it is not uncommon, to get a bad plug when purchasing new ones. Check that they are firing through the tip of electrode, and not shorting through the insulator inside threads.
Good luck.
