My 2001 E225FPXSIF will not run when I shift into reverse. Started this year with having to stop in neutral for 2 to 5 sec. and then reverse ok. Now it will not run at all when shifting into reverse. Is there a bad sensor or a linkage problem I can check?

There is a neutral switch in the controls, but that switch affects the starter if bad (starter won't turn motor over).
Then there is a shift position switch/sensor located on the motor at the shift linkage, and there may be an additional neutral switch at the shift linkage as well. On the newer motors the shift position sensor as well as a neutral switch.
Either way, I think this is where your problem is, however the shift position sensor usually affects motor by throwing into limp-mode.
So i'm thinking, that this shift position sensor, or if you have the neutral switch, that one of these is possibly grounding/ maybe wires shorting when shifting into reverse. Inspect the linkage and wires there for chaffing when put into reverse?
Good luck. Post back when able if you find anything.
