Hi all, working on my great grandfathers 54 Evinrude fastwin 15hp and found the baklite o ring seal retainer on the upper crankshaft is in pieces. Is there a more modern seal you are using on these motors?

I think, if it lasted 60 years, you might like to replace with the same. Although finding parts for a 60+ year old motor might be a challenge itself.

Yeah that is the trick isn't it. Well working in an auto parts store has some advantages. National seal 471224 is a perfect fit. Problem solved.Comment

Put it in the water on Monday, started on the 2nd pull after 25 plus years sitting idle. Ran beautiful, haven't personally ran this motor since I was a teen so it sure felt good to use it again.Comment
