Greetings: I have a 1968 6 hp evinrude. Model#6802R-E12258 The top cylinder has weak spark. I replaced the coil wire with a new one and still weak, I installed new points and condensers, still weak spark, I swapped the coils around and it did not change the result, still weak spark on top cylinder. Put on a new out of the box coil, still weak spark. Installed new plugs, still weak spark on top cylinder. made sure wire from coil going to points was not grounding out anywhere. Flywheel must be ok because it only effects one cylinder, even though it does not affect spark, I did a leak down test at 100 psi and had no air leak of any kind, also did compression test and both cylinders were exactly 110 psi. I am out of options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
If you have points for each cylinder, you may also have one stator coil for each cylinder? Is it possible one stator coil is weak? Is this the coil you replaced already?
Does your motor run? Is it not running on top cylinder?
