I have the above motor and have been having some real problems hard starting. The problems seemed to start upon filling the tank with gas on a trip to MN. I filled up and ran through that tank down to 1/8 of a tank then refilled more from a different source with no improvement. I always use high octane ethanol free gas. The motor will turn over and will start to cough toward the end of the starter cycle. I would have to turn it over maybe 10 times before it finally would start. Then tonight on the water it would cough at the end of the start cycle, but would not start. After 20 or so attempts the battery went dead. I have noticed the plugs foul very easily and a service person once told me these motors are notorious for fouling plugs. The plugs ARE indexed correctly. My plan tomorrow is to refill with gas, add 2+4 fuel treatment, and pull and clean the plugs. Any other thoughts?
