  • Engine Runs Rough, Stalls, Hesitates on Acceleration

hi i have a 96 ocean pro 200 and every time i go on the water motor runs perfect but after a while like half hour the motor stars running rough and hesitates on acceleration i give it more gas it gets worse i also notice that every time i hit the gas hard gauge beeps and check engine light come on. last weekend on my way back i removed the engine cowl and the only way i got it to run a little better was by moving the carburator lever not moving the timer base linkage

Not real familiar with your particular motor, but does it have a primer system? If yes, it may be causing this kind of problem?
It sounds fuel related, unless your timing coil is acting up when motor heats up? Not sure about gauges, unless there might be a worn wire affecting a number of things when you move throttle? that could also affect timing if the worn wire is from stator, or timing coil area?

Good luck. Post back if find anything.
