  • 2000 150 ficht fuel issue

I just acquired a flats boat with a 2000 Evinrude 150 ficht E150FSLSSM. Before everyone chimes in and says it's an anchor, which it may well be hear me out.
I immediately did a complete full service which includes: plugs, water pump, thermostats, power head fuel filter, and gear case oil. I also drained the fuel tank, installed new sender and pickup tube.
First couple times out she ran amazing. Turning almost 4800 rpm and cruising boat at 47 mph. Last two times out she bogs down once on plane. So I hooked up a remote five gallon tank with primer ball. Once on plane and squeezing ball like crazy I was able to get her running. So I ordered a rebuild kit for the manual fuel pump. Ran last weekend and still bogs out. I have not hooked up a pressure gauge to the fuel system which I'll do next.
Any other troubleshooting advice? I also have the ability to hookup to Evinrude computer which I will do. Possibly injectors? Any secret to reinstalling them? Concerned about having to re program ecru after that since I have never pulled injectors from a ficht or Etec. Thanks for any ***istance.

I would go with the pressure test of fuel rail. You could also add Seafoam to tank, it has helped with a number of problems, fuel related.
But the press test is best for now. It sounds like the fuel pressure regulator may not be doing its job (maintaining fuel pressure at rail/ injectors).

    Good luck.

      Update:
Hooked pressure gauge to shrader valve. Only getting around 15 lbs once key is truned on, then steadily drops off to almost zero. On hose in driveway, fuel pressure is around 11 lbs only. So I'm guessing I've got a high pressure fuel pump going bad. Not a cheap item. Any other thoughts?
      Thanks

Would there be some kind of pressure relief or byp*** valve that might be leaking fuel bringing the pressure down? Just guessing here. I had a car that did that, bad pressure regulator.

I might find the same, pressure regulator for your motor before changing pumps? Maybe pump is good, and regulator (maintains pressure) is not?

Good luck. Post back if find anything?

Mechanic says the whole vst and pump need to be replaced. If it cannot hold pressure its toast. Pressure regulator is in the vst. Looks like I have to dump at least 600 into this anchor. Will report back with findings. The pumps are hard to find right now.

              Update problem resolved

Just a quick update. Found a new VST tank and fuel pump. Problem solved. Engine now turns almost 5500 rpms, pushing the Action Craft at almost 53 mph.

Planning on only running Rec 90 fuel from now on.
