Hi, I have a 2006 evinrude etec 250 with 700 hours and need help. When I was under way yesterday, the motor suddendly lost power, like it was suffocating for fuel, and then died. I then got it started again but could not push it more than idle speed. I figured it was just fuel filters getting clogged so I changed my filters, but now when I run the boat, WOT is only at 4300 RPMS when before it was at 5100 RPMS. What could be causing this RPM difference. Do you think the motor is still suffocating for gas (maybe fuel lines or something clogged) or could there be another problem that isnt allowing the boat to reach 5100 RPMs like it used to. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Try a portable tank. It may be the pickup in the tank or another small filter still blocking fuel. Did you notice what was blocking the other filters you changed? It is important to know these things? Anytime you change a filter, or separator pour contents into a gl*** jar for inspection. You don't want to keep buying fuel from same place if selling trash in fuel? Also if rubber hoses are breaking down, you'll know you need to replace them before motor gets loaded up with the black debris. Major cleaning job then.
Good luck.
