  • To much oil

Got a 1993 evinrude 120 with the oil injection. If it sits and is not crank up for over a week it has so much oil in the carbs and has that it spits and sputters and smoaks the whole landing up when I crank it. Does anyone know what would cause this or where I need to begin looking the oil resivour is under the center console. Any help is appreciated thanks.

A$suming when you say "Oil Injection", you're speaking of a VRO fuel/oil pump, and you've owned the engine for some time, and this problem has just started taking place, the usual problem is that the VRO is faulty and requires a rebuild kit.

However, there is also the possibility that the heat is causing a pressure buildup within the oil tank. Does this problem exist if you loosen the oil cap slightly when the rig sits to create a venting action?

It has pretty much done this since I bought it new shortly after warranty was over. I put a in line valve in the oil line and turn it off when I know im not gonna use it for a while and it helps but there is still a lot of oil.
