  • Electric shift from 85 hp to 40 hp

Hi Guys. First post. I have an 85 hp Starflite X that uses electric shift. I have just purchased a 40 hp Evinrude that also uses electric shift. The wiring from the control box (forward neutral reverse throttle) back too the 85 ends in a female connector. The 85 has a male connector so they plug into each other. The 40 has a female connector at the motor so now I'm female too female. Could this be as easy as getting an appropriate set of male female connections and matching wire to wire or am I in trouble here somewhere already. I thank you for any advice you would care too offer.

Not familiar with the electric shift models/ circuits. All I can suggest is compare the wiring diagrams for the two motors to see if wiring is same, then you can change connector if they match up.

    Good luck.
