1984 90 hp johnson

Just purchased a used Yar Craft with a 90 HP johnson. The motor is tilted all the way down and I cannot get it to raise. I have connected just the motor wires to a battery and nothing. Will go back this afternoon and attempt to connect all wires and see if it will raise. Do I need the ignition switch on to use the tilt on the motor control? not sure how it operates just do not want to burn anything. Thanks
Did go back and hooked reds to positive blacks to negative. Motor is up and boat in in my yard.

Check the wiring and the relays in the relay box. I had a dead trim/tilt and it was rusty relays.

Sorry I have been away too long but I finally got wires hooked up properly and switch has to be on and tilt and trim work perfectly. Have had the boat in the lake and it performs great. Thanks
