hey guys i can not for the life of me figure out what is going on with my fuse. my understanding is that with the battery system there is one path; + power ties in to the + side and then the Ground ties in to the - (negitive) side with direct paths to the battery + ties to + and - ties to ground. when i do this my fuse blows. to make sure there was no short i connected a wire to the + on the battery and on the fuse it self and then did the same thing with the Neg side (-) and tied it to the other side of the fuse and it still belw the fuse? what am i doing wrong? i have only gone threw about 15 10 amp fuses and i have switched batteries just to make sure it wasnt that. ps this is for a new cd player in a boat that is new to me

Try wiring the CD player directly to the battery. If it works, then you know it's good, if it still blows the fuse to the player, then either you have it wired wrong, or the player isn't good.
If it works, then you are connecting it wrong in the console/dash. Check what you're wiring it to. All items under console generally are 12volts, positive (usually red) and negative (usually black). If you can't figure it out, get some help. You don't need to burn up, or damage the boat wiring.
Don't connect any wires to look for smoke, that's just wrong, and it will short something expensive out.
Good luck, but don't smoke the wires.
