1974 135 charging/tach problem

I replaced the stator and now there is no charging and no tach. I replaced the new stator with the old one(it was still working I replaced it because it was leaking) and still no joy. I've done all the checks shown in the manual and everything seems to check out. This is making me crazy

Did you plug ALL wires back together, rectifier/regulator connections, ALL battery wires connected? ALL grounds reconnected?

Think I'd do it all over from scratch, same procedure as first time, by the book. This time notice if there's something you forgot?
