The general rule is 1 turn open after lightly seating closed. This is for the idle air mixture screw setting. Another rule is, if you have multiple carbs, each carb mixture screw should be set the same.
Last rule, if runs ok at setting, check plugs after running for a day (plenty of idling around), if plugs black/sooty (too rich) open mixture screws 1/8 turn for more air. A light chocolate color is good. But too light, may be too lean, close mixture screws 1/8 turn each.
When you removed the screws to clean carbs, did you notice what they were set at? You also didn't mention if pre-mix, or oil injection, if this was 2, or 4 stroke. And i'm not familiar with the electronics on this motor.
Good luck.
