I have a 1990 115 HP V-4 Evinrude. At RPM in excess of about 1800, the high heat alarm sounds. New impeller and new thermostats were installed (a real challenge), but the alsrm problem continues. Someone suggested that the only issue remaining is to pull the heads and replace something called the rubber water p***age deflectors that force the cooling water a certain direction around each bank of cylinders. Does this recommendation seem logical? Has anyone done this job and ***uming some mechanical skill, how difficult is this repair? Are there any special concerns or issues involved?
