My 1989 40 HP TE40ELCEC has water in gear lube.
I removed the gear housing and the seals appear fine. The shaft has some rust on it but it is not pitted and does not have wear grooves. I have attached a photo of the shaft and outside seal.
How can water get in the gear lube if the prop shaft seal looks good?
