I have a 1976 9.9 model 10624R that i just tore down and had the cylinders honed and installed new pistons and gaskets all the way around. I also replaced the water pump using a repair kit. The engine overheated initially due to a bent and disconnected water tube. I replaced the tube and all ***ociated grommetts as well. I started it yesterday and it ran fine but did not spit any water out of the rear exhaust outlet. It let out a small mist and a few drops but that was it. My model does not have a "tell-tale" and I am wondering how i can confirm that it is cycling water. I shut it off before it got hot enough to open the thermostat but i inspected that when i rebuilt the motor. Is this little amount of water normal and can anyone tell me how to fabricate my own "tell-tale"?
