I have a 1996 OMC Sunbird with a 90hp, Evinrude. Two years ago the plastic positioning barrel broke off the gear cable. I replaced both.
Every thing went smoothly until adjustment. I can only get one or the other adjusted correctly.
This is what happens, I have days working on this issue and still is the same.
With the cables attached and "seem" to be adjusted correctly, that is idle correct, will engage in forward and reverse correctly, full throttle can be reached in forward, only idle in reverse.
If i move the mounting point for the fuel to the holes farther away, I will go in reverse and full throttle, but only go into forward but no throttle.
I have tried so many combinations I'm going crazy.
As a last resort I completely removed and dis***embled the control box to see if there was an issue inside. Every thing looks fine, nothing broken, rusted, completely cleaned and greased, it works a bit smoother now but same issues
