idle spped carb adjustment help

I have a 50473M a gift.
the instructions on the carb are worn off.
When....I get it started, it runs fine, but is very temperamental on the start.
I found the two adjustment screws under the rubbers. Before I monkey with them, what should I know.
Any help?

It should only have one adjustment needle which is low speed adjustment, warm engine up good and adjust needle to get best idle then open another 1/4 turn.
