Hello,
I just acquired a 48 hp Evinrude model E48ESLCER and I cannot get it to tilt.
It has not been run in three years but I have it started, shifting, charging and pumping water fine.
It looks like it has been very well maintained and lubricated.
Problem is I cannot get it to tilt. As I see it the tilt works with what is like a hydraulic bottle jack, you move the cable, it must be like the screw valve on a bottle jack, and then you can move to tilt the motor, return the cable and the jack stays fixed. I can see the cable move up and down at close to ½ inch.
We have lifted this really hard and there is a lot of leverage so it does not seem like something is frozen.
It’s on a stand and I can’t really get at any of these parts well unless I can get it to tilt it up.
What is my best approach for servicing this issue? Try and remove the bottom tilt pin or take it off the stand and remove the top pin if that is possible, drain the hydraulic cylinder or what it or what?
Thanks in advance, Al
