  • Newbie needing help!

Hey guys so I'm kind of new to these motors. i have a 4hp and 7.5hp evinrude. I've got the carbs cleaned and what not and have them running good but i need help on the oil portion. i know there is oil down by the propeller but what i don't know is where is the oil for the motor?? probably a dumb question but don't know unless i ask. also how often and what kind of oil should be used by the propeller and the same ? for the motor oil?? any help is greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

If they are 2 stroke models then you mix 50:1 oil ratio in gas tank(newer models use 100:1 oil ratio)
If its a four stroke engine then check dip stick on engine to see has oil in it.

stick to 50 to 1 regardless of age for the oil in the fuel and make sure its a marine 2 stroke oil.
100 to 1 will destroy your engines ,its just not enough unless idling all day and not revving over 1/4 throttle.
the gearbox can just have ep90 gear oil the same as a car in these engines.
for the amount they hold can change it every year for minimal cost.
