I have purchased a 1998 evinrude 150 carbureted. I started it about 4 months ago and was running a bit erratic since then I rebuilt all 6 carburetors changed power pack, all 3 coils, spark plugs, thermostats, cleaned up flywheel( was pretty clean) and changed stator. I am not getting fire on #5&6 , tried the coil in a different location and works, tried the power pack leads from bottom coil that feeds #5&6 to coil for #3&4 cylinders and no spark, could a power pack brand new (CDI) be bad? Old power pack was the same way, no fire on #5&6. Can someone help? I tried disconnecting rectifier/regulator exactly the same behavior.
To check spark I have tried two ways, first with a spark tester and second with spark plug out and grounded to the block.
I do not have a serial number tag anywhere and no sign of it missing. There is a tag on the block right under the power pack that gives the year and a bunch of other info, the only thing resembling a serial # is at the bottom of the tag " for use with 150 hp Eagle EL-EX-NX code 484393" .confused:
