  • 92 Evinrude 60hp, no spark...Help

My mother just gave me a nice boat with a 1992 Evinrude 60 HP with about 30 hours on it. Anyway, It’s obviously spent most of its life sitting and not running. Last time it ran was about a year ago. The motor and its components looks to be remarkably good shape but I am getting no spark when I turn it over. Actually, I get an initial few weak sparks and then nothing. This is the case on all cylinders / plugs. Plugs are almost new. Someone said to check / disconnect the black & yellow kill switch wire, yet I cannot find any such wire and there is no kill switch at the ignition? Was also told it could be a bad coil pack. But all three bad? Any thoughts or suggestions. Getting plenty of fuel (new), spins over fine but no start / spark. I cannont afford to just start replacing random parts..Thanks in advanced,

Black/yellow is in harness that connects to power pack, it could be bad stator or power pack. Would need a peak reading voltmeter to test output voltage of them to tell what needs to be replaced.

ok so no kill switch, this means your not using the original control box then ?
so I too would be looking at the end of the wiring where key is.
like under the dash etc, as someone has obviously done away with the kill switch (very stupid thing to do).
it does sound like its a kill switch problem to me and I would make surethere is not one fitted somewhere first.
if you have the correct control box its on the side of the box and needs to be pushed in to get a good spark.
now also if your running a normal remote gearthrottle box if the little bolt on the back is turned to give the lever no resistance at all these can press against wires in the box and short it out.
