the only way to get the thermostats back in properly though is to drop the lower engine cowling. its a pig of a job on an olderengine as most bolts will break.
the fuel pump works on the pulse from the crankcase.
pulse comes in and moves diaphragm back and forth then fuel is sucked in and pumped out.
very simple very basic easy to service and very reliable.
