thru prop exhaust-25hp evinrude/johnson

I am looking for a 25hp evinrude or johnson motor to use with an Q35 outboard jet that I have. It is supposed to fit a 1976 to 2005 model with thru prop exhaust, & I'd like to stay within the 2000-2005 year models if possible. My question is, which, if any of these year models do NOT have thru prop exhaust, and if some do not, is it possible to determine that with only the model number or serial number, without actually seeing the motor. I have located a 2005 motor, but it is in another state & I'd like to know for sure it will fit my jet before I get it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would have to check parts listing on each model to see if has thru prop exhaust or exhaust out cavitation plate. Probably mid 90's and newer would work.
