79 evinrude 150 hard to start won't pick up rpm
My out board was running great then one day it was hard to start and when I went to take off it wouldn't pick up speed .the fuel primer bulb was hard so it hadn't lost pressure.over the winter I changed plugs and put 2 new power pacs on that I had gotten when I got the boat .and it will not start it wants to start and the starter kicks out right before it acts like it wants to fire up so far I've done a few things to trouble shoot .
1 new plugs
2 new power pacs
3 spark test
4 compression test all cylinders were between 98 and 95 lbs this was done cold since I couldn't get the motor fired up to do at operating temp
.the only way I can get it to start is with a small squirt of starting fluid I know it's not good to use starting fluid but this was a small shot .i took off my air box cover and when I choke the carbs to try and start it sputters and when I let off the choke the carbs dump gas out of the front .i rebuilt the carbs over the weekend but the looked clean inside .i took every thing out of them and let them soak in chem dip for about 45 mins and rinsed off with water and blew them out with air .and shot through all orfices .im waiting on a .029 idle jet since I messed one up taking it out , hoping to get them back on and tried out by the weekend .if the rebuilds don't work I'm kind of at a lost on what to trouble shoot next .thanks for the help .
