I own a 86 20 hp Evinrude that after a few years of work runs really well. I have heard nothing but good things about the use of Sea Foam. What I can't get a solid answer on is the possible damage I have heard about from some people. I want to mix it with fuel and let it run through until the mix is used up. I heard from some people that in a 2 stroke, Sea Foam may cause damage to the upper crank bearing. Is there any truth to this? Are there any things I should know or do before doing the Sea Foam treatment. Is the fuel/Sea Foam ratio correct for a first time use. Any help with this from forum members is appreciated. I have never been steered wrong from this forum. You guys know your "Rudes."

Sea Foam or not

I have not used Sea Foam but as long you have oil in gas it shouldn't cause any problems on a one time use.

Seafoam Why?
IMO, based on 10 years educating on (E10) gas issues (95% of gas now sold is E10 ethanol-blend type), Seafoam is in the top 3 WORST gas additives you could ever choose to buy/use. (There are over 4000 gas additives registered with the EPA). I've had MANY customers report major engine damage due to improper use of this additive.
More importantly, what is it that you are trying to accomplish by using it?
Check the MSDS (ingredients) and explain to me how/why you think it might somehow be beneficial?
Feel free to ask me if you don't understand what the ingredients listed in MSDS are.
E.G. The 3rd ingredient in their MSDS listed as "IPA" Cas# 67-63-0 10-20% is Isopropyl Alcohol...
BTW, (and I apologize in advance for my boldness in saying this), whomever has recommended this particular product to you is either just clueless about fuel system management and how/why certain gas additive ingredients can be useful, OR is making a decent profit selling it to you (and could care less if it has any benefits or might be damaging your engine).
