Hard pulling with pullstart ,with plugs out pulls nice and smooth. Any thoughts?

If it's kicking back when pull rope timing may be off.

Anyone know if the nut on the flywheel is standard or reverse thread?

Standard right hand thread.

Thank you for the response.Pulled the flywheel and the key seems pretty worn. Put the flywheel nut back on and spun with a ratchet doesn't seem to turn smoothly thru the rotation.

May have a problem inside engine.
